LOL - I zoomed all the way into the Apollo 11 landing site and got a
surprise!
It's made of cheese LOL. Actually there is a theory the moon is an
artificially constructed satellite, one of the enigmas being it's a lot
bigger that it's actual mass would seem to suggest which means there must be
lots of hollow cavities inside very much like Swiss Emental Cheese :)
Of course if one were going to build a large structure in space using some
sort of expanding foam like materiel something like that foam sealant stuff
one can buy in DIY shops would make sense, since in a vacuum (or extremely
low air pressure environment) one could make a material that expanded in
that way with a lot less gas or air pressure than is required on the earth
itself.
One imagines such a material sent up in a container around the size of a
rocket compartment could expand to say for example hundreds or even a
thousand times it's own volume. And although something the size of the moon
might be a bit of a large project it, might be feasible to built platforms
in space, the size of an asteroid and big enough to constrict space stations
of the size of a small town.
The other thing is if one could make such a substance a good radiation
shield, possibly by feeding water into it (sponges absorb water well) and
allowing it to freeze maybe it could be used to construct space craft to
send manned missions to the outer reaches of the solar system. The other
thing is adding water would increase the mass of the foam.
So basically one would have a material that one could use to build one's own
asteroids, moons, planetoids and comets and use them for human space
exploration. Of course it's not so daft as it may sound. There are certain
insect larvae on earth that exude a kind of foam to protect the larvae from
the elements. So the idea already exists and is used in nature itself.
Of course the other interesting thought is maybe comets are the remnants of
just such vehicles that were constructed many millennia ago by another
advanced civilisation. The fact that they seem to find them made of odd
sponge like materials and appear to exude plasma trails when they go around
the sun shouldn't come as too much of a surprise the material might have
been constructed to resist the suns radiation in exactly that way to act as
a shield for the occupants who would of course live in some sort off
compartment in the middle.
The other interesting thing about that theory of course is the idea of
people or gods riding around in comets does appear in ancient art, so if
theory is correct there is plenty of documentation, which would suggest the
ancients knew something we don't.
It also means the proof that we are not alone or that there have been
advanced civilisations before in our solar system who may even still exist,
is right in front of our noses.
